Enjoyed this read very much. A page turner, at times, with surprising shots of humour, now and again. Like Ardachy, I would look out for more by this author.
For the northern part of the story, it is set in the southmost island of the Outer Hebrides archipelago, in the early 1800s: an island no longer inhabited.
