As usual, Debbie Macomber's holiday romances are a refreshing escape from a world that is not so sweet with such perfect endings. Merry is a lovely girl whose family has economic hardships. Her father is hardworking but has to travel for his job. Her mother has health issues but handles them cheerfully. Her brother is a delightfully sweet teenage with Downs' Syndrome. Merry has a positive attitude. The only thing that she has a negative attitude toward is her Scrooge of a boss who happens to be handsome and single. Merry is working as a temp to earn money for her last year of college. Her life is too busy for a social life. Merry's brother and mother decide to surprise her with a membership on an internet dating site. They don't upload a photo of her. Merry is not too pleased but then she finds herself chatting with a man who did not upload a photo either. Guess what? This man turns out to be her boss.
