Bum Fodder: An Absorbing History of Toilet Paper
3 journalers for this copy...
I got this hardcover from an online seller, as a possible addition to the next "Biographies of Things" bookbox. It's a lighthearted and amusing (if sometimes a bit too silly) look at the history of toilet paper, and touches on such things as elegant hand-made sheets of the stuff, the use of alternate materials (some very funny bits about mail-order catalogs and even corn cobs, which one writer describes as surprisingly comfortable), and the high-tech bidet/wash/dry smart-toilets. There's the icky sponge-on-a-stick popular in ancient Rome, anecdotes about poets bragging of using their rivals' verses to wipe themselves, a nod to the technological breakthrough that is perforation, and much more!
I'm adding this to the Biographies of Things bookbox (bookbox journal here). Hope someone enjoys it!
Rec'd as part of MaryZee's Biographies of Things Book Box (Link) but I won't be keeping this one and it will be sent on to the next participant.
