We all have issues to work though,
some issues are just
more hairier than others.

This is one of those graphic novels that I didn't actually have any real high hopes for. I figured it would just be generic and kind of lame.
Now, don't get me wrong, there were some cliche elements going on in here... but this was actually a pretty fun idea for a story and I was enjoying seeing how it played out. Some of the boring troupes were drug out but it was still a fun book to read.
I laughed at the turned over backwards notions of AAA and supernatural beings. It was very cute. I'd definitely read this one again if it came around.
But now it's part of a trade. So off it goes to a new reader! ;)

The Big Box of Trade Books arrived safely today; many thanks! I'd enjoyed Vampires Anonymous, which features a 12-step program for vampires (doesn't go well, btw), so the concept of this graphic novel sounded amusing. It's about a baseball player who's a werewolf, and can't seem to get anyone to listen to his concerns about, oh, the people he devours. His mother knows about it - turns out he's a hereditary werewolf! - and his ex-girlfriend is a succubus and shouldn't bat an eye at a werewolf, but they don't seem to understand. Cue the AA-for-monsters program! But there are political issues between the monsters who think all their kind should embrace their natures, and those who want to live with humankind without preying on it. Hmmm...
By the time we find out what the 13th step is, the focus changes a bit, and I admit I liked the pragmatic attitude of our hero's AA sponsor. But the artwork's in a sketchy, low-contrast style that was sometimes hard to follow, and overall I don't think I'll seek out the next volume.
