Blurb from the back:
Eleanor Oliphant has learned how to survive - but not how to live.
Eleanor Oliphant leads a simple life. She wears the same clothes to work every day, eats the same meal deal for lunch every day and buys the same two bottles of vodka to drink every weekend.
Eleanor Oliphant is happy. Nothing is missing from her carefully timetabled life. Except, sometimes, everything.
One simple act of kindness is about to shatter the walls Eleanor has built around herself. Now she must learn how to navigate the world that everyone else seems to take for granted - while searching for the courage to face the dark corners she's avoided all her life.
Change can be good. Change can be bad. But surely any change is better than... fine?
An astonishing story that powerfully depicts the loneliness of life, and the simple power of a little kindness.
I really enjoyed this book - it was really funny but desperately poignant at times. It was a really good storyline providing insights into a difficult emotional topic.
My Mum and sister were fighting over who got to read this next so it's doing the rounds!

A good read, Not just chic lit / holiday reading! Eleanor Oliphant has some interesting aspects to it with regards to loneliness and social awkwardness. I would have liked it to delve deeper into the darker elements of the novel but overall a good book.

On it's way to Femke85 in Sweden. I hope you enjoy it :)

I absolutely loved this book and it almost makes me sad that I finished it in two days. I wish I could have kept reading it for a longer time, but I felt like it was impossible to put down.
“ “No thank you,” I said. “I don’t want to accept a drink from you, because then I would be obliged to purchase one for you in return, and I’m afraid I’m simply not interested in spending two drinks’ worth of time with you” - Eleanor
Isn’t this the best quote ever? I’m looking forward to using this in real life!
I love Eleanor, her quirky personality, her way with words, her social awkwardnes. The story of her life is very sad, but the book holds a great balance between sad and funny. The passages of Eleanor’s mom brought tears to my eyes, but a lot of the inner dialogue and observations of Eleanor made me laugh.
Even though it starts off very light and funny, this book covers a lot of difficult and dark topics. It’s a story about emotional and physical abuse; coping mechanisms and survival.
“Grief is the price we pay for love, so they say. The price is far too high” - Eleanor
This book is now going to Mcsar as part of the Wishlist tag game. Enjoy!

I always try to post my controlled releases with real stamps. If you are not a collector yourself, you might want to check out this post on the forum about a stamps sweeps that I organised (now closed) or this one about Bookcrossers who collect stamps. A lot of Bookcrossers collect stamps for charity, so it’s nice to find them a good home!

Arrived safely. Thanks for tagging me.

I also absolutely loved the book. I loved how the book can tear at the heart while it remains entertaining and fun to read. Eleanor is quirky and endearing. A great read.

I am so unorganized that I never finish the books I intended for the birthday group in time for the birthday celebration. So here is a wishlist book for a much belated birthday greeting!
