I have become a fan of Joanne Harris since reading Chocolat and I am therefore pleased to add Blackberry Wine to my BC Shelf in order to send it on as a nsseb book to olliebear, who has it on her wishlist. It's in my permanent collection (along with most of her other books) and I hope olliebear enjoys it too! Joanne's gift is her ability to make you feel, see, smell and, tantalisingly, almost taste, making your mouth water. Then she chucks in a whiff of magic to top it off. Hugely enjoyable. Enjoy with a large glass of something and maybe some chocolate!
Oh thankyou for this....I am so in love with Joanne Harris' books and this is one I am keen to read. I agree with you at how she manages to make your mouth water uncontrollably whilst adding a touch of magic. I hope she writes many more!
Thankyou, you lovely Easter Bunny you!
And for the chocolate...made hubby jealous as it is all mine! Teehee!

I enjoyed the rich aroma of this book, although it wasn't quite as mouth-watering as Chocolat it was rather fab! I just love the way Joanne Harris describes tastes and smells and environment. So luxurious. One thing that I particularly liked about this book was that she revisited Lansquenet 5 years after Chocolat and made reference to all the main characters from Choc! Very clever.
Anyway, another brilliant book from Joanne Harris...a must for any fan! I only have Jigs and Reels and a couple of her early books to read then I have read everything by her! Thanks for sharing this Lady-Mondegreen!
Unsure of the future for this book...might see if my Mum wants to read it then take it along to a Leeds meetup for a new reader!

Caught at Leeds bookcrossers meet. Will read and release. I'm reading The Mill on the Floss at the moment, so once that is out of the way I can make a start. I haven't read any Joanne Harris before or seen the film, but I've had this book recommended to me several times.

A really enjoyable read, with a few twists and turns along the way. The ending was rather predictable, though. What you really read it for is the sensuality of the descriptions. The scenes float off the page. I'm going to release the book at the bookcrossing meeting tonight in Leeds.
Picked up at the Leeds meet up.
