Journal Entry 1 by BookCrosser from Culemborg, Gelderland Netherlands on Friday, April 2, 2004
A comic and satiric book. Not an easy read, because it consists of a series of conversations with half sentences, which makes it often difficult to decide who is talking. The result is often hilarious. It is well worth the effort.

Journal Entry 3 by RonOren from Wassenaar, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Monday, January 24, 2005
Picked it up at the meeting. I know nothing about either the book or the author, but it seemed interesting enough to read a hilarious book that mocks (American) capitalism. I'll read and report.

Journal Entry 4 by RonOren from Wassenaar, Zuid-Holland Netherlands on Saturday, April 9, 2005
I couldn't get into it. Partly because a major part of the book (at least, of the pages I read) consists of conversations with half-sentences (as BookCrosser already mentioned); even worse, it's one of those editions without quotation marks, which makes it weven worse to decide who's speaking at what time.
But, more importantly, I couldn't get a feel for what the story is about. In the 40 or so pages I read, there did not seem to be any distinct story. Maybe I was too tired at the time and missed out on some parts, but it seemed like almost random conversation to me. I can't get myself to start in it again :-(.

I have to grant, though, it is pretty funny. Even while I didn't understand what he's talking about, there were quite some moments that drew chuckles. I wouldn't be surprised if it's even better for someone who actually gets the story...

Yet, as I said: I can't make myself read it again. So, it's going to our little AVL-shelf, and I'll decide what to do with it later.

RELEASE NOTES:

Since I couldn't find anyone who was interested in it (or at least, no-one who'd put it on their wishlist), I'll take it to tomorrow's meeting and hope it'll go home with someone who can appreciate it more than I did.

Edit: Oopsie, chose the wrong crossing zone. Apparently this Cafe Lef is not the same one that will be turned into an OBCZ. So, if anyone would like to hunt for this book, you'll have to come to the meeting. Oh, bother ;-)
