Georgia was born to color hair: back in Weekeepeemie, New Hampshire, her single mother struggled to keep her own small-town beauty parlor and family afloat. Seeking more after beauty school, Georgia moves to New York City and starts working at the Jean-Luc Salon. Here, in this glitzy, over-the-top world, she highlights dogs' hair to match their owners', makes house calls to the Hamptons, and barely bats an eyelash at a thousand-dollar tip. She's too busy for romance - until her quiet, handsome colleague Massimo begins to offer more than styling pointers... and Jean-Luc does the unthinkable. Now Georgia will need help from the most unlikely people, if she is to survive the ugly side of beauty.

This arrived in the mail a few days ago, but I had to go to the post office to collect it, so it took a few days. Thanks for the book, the chocolate bar, tea and candy

This some typical, easy-reading kind of chicklit, perfect to shut your brain off. The story is about Georgia, a small-town girl who ends up working as a colorist at a over-the-top hair salon in New York. The place for the rich and famous. Not surprisingly, the author is also a colorist in a New York hair salon. A lot of times this book was very anekdotal, with lots of namedropping of supposedly important names that were often irrelevant to the story. At times it felt like I was reading the autobiography of a person that isn’t really interesting.

So, definitely not the best book in its genre, but if you want some very light reading that feels like reading a 180-page women’s gossip magazine, well then this is the one you should pick.
