Excerpts from reviews that convinced me I wanted to read this 'village mystery':
"well plotted...to be savoured by connoisseurs of characterization"
"the first in this wonderfully entertaining series, one of the very best"
"Fun murder mystery; like many others, not altogether believable in the real world, but entirely cohesive in its own. The heroine, Merry Mitchell, has a true past we learn about and learn to care about. The characters are not, for the most part, caricatures or stereotypical but drawn from life, believable."
Thanks so much, Metropolitan!

This is the first novel in a village mystery series featuring Meredith Mitchell, who discovers a murder case while on vacation in Oxfordshire. This was my first village mystery to read; I enjoyed it, but I’m not likely to seek out more by this author. ‘Just not exactly what I like.
