Morning Star: Book 3 of the Red Rising Saga (Red Rising Series)
3 journalers for this copy...
I was so excited to finally find a copy of this at a used book store.
This perfectly wrapped up the series. It has some of the same small issues here and there that were present in the other two books, but the plotting and action are top notch.
Glad I can recommend the entire series just a wholeheartedly as I did the first book.
From Chapters:
"Finally, the time has come.
But devotion to honor and hunger for vengeance run deep on both sides. Darrow and his comrades-in-arms face powerful enemies without scruple or mercy. Among them are some Darrow once considered friends. To win, Darrow will need to inspire those shackled in darkness to break their chains, unmake the world their cruel masters have built, and claim a destiny too long denied—and too glorious to surrender."

Bringing to the September Calgary BookCrossing meetup.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing September meet-up. Whoo, last book in the trilogy!
I honestly thought the series was over with this book but then I saw that there is another book after this one (and another one forthcoming). I'm kind of annoyed that the series didn't stop here. It's a good ending. The fact that there are more books kind of cheapens the events of this book. But I guess this series has sold well, so the author wants to keep going.
Some spoilers now...
The way the climax was staged really annoyed me. When you thought all was lost for Darrow, it was dramatic. When it turns out that Sevro isn't dead and everything is an elaborate ruse and Darrow just has his hand re-attached after it gets chopped off, it feels so clichéd and lazy. Everything comes so easily to Darrow. He doesn't struggle as much as he should have while fighting this gigantic war. The fact that the war is still going on in the next book may address this pet peeve of mine, but I'm not that interested in continuing with the series.
Also, the author's writing style was so annoying at times. There were. So. Many. Fragments. The disjointed sentences may seem fancy or arty from a stylistic point of view, but when you're reading along, it's damn distracting. Or maybe that's just me...
