Got this slim ex-library hardcover at the Savers thrift shop. It's a really charming story of a young South African boy making a perilous trip across the desert to join his parents in the mining village where they've gone for the birth of their new baby - at Christmas... The scenes in the desert are lovely, and include the boy's efforts to help an injured antelope - who then returns the favor by guiding him safely.

I left this book in this handsome Little Free Library on a twisty little road at the edge of Lower Suncook Lake in this bright, chilly day; hope someone enjoys it!
