I got this paperback from a friend who's decluttering. It's a collection of some of Clarke's short stories, with an amusing introduction by the author. Among my favorites:

"Technical Error," in which experimenting with elemental forces has dramatically unfortunate results.

"The Fires Within" speculates on the possibility of life deep inside the planet Earth - and has a wry twist regarding what happens when the inner and outer civilizations meet.

"Trouble With the Natives" is a humorous look at a pair of hapless aliens trying to mingle with Earthlings - and finding that their studies of old Earth broadcasts have given them unhelpful examples of speech, fashion, and interpersonal relations.

I left this book in the Little Free Library; hope someone enjoys it!
