THE COPPER PEACOCK contains nine short stories--eight tales packed with psychological suspense (the author's trademark) and one classic detective story featuring Chief Inspector Reginald Wexford.
The title story concerns a narcissistic scholar. He fixates on a woman he considers socially beneath him. His dilemma is painful, as is its resolution.

Many thanks for this book! I've always enjoyed Ruth Rendell's books. There might not be much of her on my BC shelf, but there sure are many of her books on my shelf at home... I never came across this one, though, so I'm looking forward to reading it!
