About the Author:
M.O. Walsh was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
"My Sunshine Away" is his first novel.

About the Book:
"It was the summer everything changed...."

My Sunshine Away unfolds in a Baton Rouge neighborhood best known for cookouts on sweltering summer afternoons, cauldrons of spicy crawfish, and passionate football fandom. But in the summer of 1989, when fifteen-year-old Lindy Simpson--free spirit, track star, and belle of the block--experiences a horrible crime late one evening near her home, it becomes apparent that this idyllic stretch of Southern suburbia has a dark side, too.

Read in October 2018
A dark, nostalgic and at times uncomfortable story narrated by a man in his 30s looking back on his youth and his infatuation with a girl who lived in his neighbourhood. This 'almost' had too many characters to keep up, but all served a relative purpose to the story.
I loved this debut novel and found myself fully engrossed.

Thank you very much for introducing me to this great book. I enjoyed this debut novel immensely. It was a wonderful reading experience, filled with a nicely suspenseful plot, a complex narrator, a sense of melancholy and loss of innocence, ruminations on memories, family, love, guilt and grief. I read the novel on and off, not because it could not sustain my interest, only because other commitments got in the way. Every time I had to get away from the book, I could not wait to get back in. An excellent read.
