Saved from a dumping into the trash as the ladies were cleaning the library at work. Registering to share.

I originally read another copy of this title in March 2009. Here is my review:
This was an amazing debut novel that hits home with every woman especially mothers. What would you do if your child grew up without you? This book takes place in 1964 when a snowstorm forces a man, who is also a doctor, to deliver his own twins. He immediately realizes one has Down Syndrome and makes a decision that will haunt him all his life. It will change many lives.

This book haunted my soul for weeks just thinking about the prejudices against Down Syndrome and how keeping a secret of this magnitude can destroy a family. The author did a fantastic job of recreating the era of how this generation institutionalized children with Down Syndrome.

Do not be disheartened, as the story comes to an end you will see the wonderful twist it takes. It is a wonderful journey you take with this woman and her family. I highly recommend it. A page turner to the end.
