Two dead men changed the course of my life that fall. One of them I knew and the other I'd never laid eyes on until I saw him in the morgue.
The first was a local private investigator of suspect reputation. He'd been gunned down near the beach at Santa Teresa. It looked like a robbery gone bad. The other was on the beach six weeks later. He'd been sleeping rough. Probably homeless. No identification. A slip of paper with private investigator Kinsey Millhone's name and number was in his pants pocket. The coroner asked her to come to the morgue to see if she could ID him.....

This is the alphabet series back to the good days. Well plotted and not too much going over the back story. Will miss them.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Mini meet for coffee and lunch and to leave a few books.
Picked up at today's mini meet. Thanks Cross-patch.
One of the strangest tales about Kinsey yet as it features two bodies with links to Kinsey, a whole new batch of long lost relatives for her and an ill-advised raid on a homeless encampment. Also three of her former love interests get involved and she still gets her mothering from a group of octogenarians. What gets me is the novel claims she's not getting any work coming in but she can still finance trips out of town and pay bills (albeit reluctantly) for her new-found relatives. The book is a little predictable though as the villain of the piece turns up at Kinsey's door and, with the help of her neighbours cat, she fights him off until one of her old flames turns up and arrests him. I'm sure that sort of thing has happened in previous books.
