I found this paperback in this Little Free Library in Newburyport MA while dropping off some books of my own. It's a collection of essays and a few stories, all having something to do with non-believers and the holiday, but it wasn't what I'd expected. A few of the entries do go into the finer points of belief systems, what atheism is and is not, and how to accomodate these differences when assembling for the holidays, but most of them are personal anecdotes about trying to keep the fun, food, music, and presents while not believing in the origin of the day... One of the more amusing entries is "Gifts for the Godless" by Jennifer McCreight, which proposes some atheist-specific versions of typical presents. It is amusing, even though few if any of the presents it tries to "atheize" are explicitly faith-based, so the humor seems a bit forced at times. Example: "Grayscale crayons: To represent how atheists view a bleak world devoid of divine purpose and meaning." Um... that isn't how atheists generally feel. (The author probably knows that. I hope.) And while a set of grayscale crayons seem like a great idea to me, there's nothing anti-atheist about the regular range of colors, so... not sure about that.

There are entries on how to be more assertive about one's lack of belief - with discussions of when and if it's reasonable (or kind) to do so, and more.

Wonderful read, so glad I found this at Benson Park considering so many times the little free library is overfilled with certain religious propaganda and material.
