Taken to the Calgary BC Meetup today.
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing July meet-up. I initially balked at the thought of reading a book by a poet, but I liked the notion of a dystopian setting. Let's see how this book turns out.
I really enjoyed this book. I was reminded a lot of "Station Eleven". The world building was tremendous and doesn't seem far fetched at all. Paulette Jiles does a really good job laying out how everything works in this new world order. You expect the book to end at a certain point, but then, it keeps going and nothing turns out as the characters planned, and that was a nice twist. The story does drift away from Nadia and James at that point; new characters are introduced and for a while you don't know why. But that was my only gripe. Highly recommended.
Passing on this book to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing September meet-up.
Picked this up at the monthly book crossing meeting at Cravings Market Restaurant
The idea of this book is interesting, a dystopian future where urban sprawl has overtaken the world, and the populace is controlled by the government by rationing their water. The story was boring though.
This book will be released at the monthly Book Crossing meeting at Cravings Market Restaurant in Calgary
Sorry for the late JE. Picked this up at the April Calgary Bookcrossing meetup.
