"Curious about veganism? Want to be a vegan? Already a vegan? Just wondering how to be vegan without going insane? In this informative and practical guide on veganism, team Torres helps you love your inner vegan freak. Loaded with tips, advice, stories, and comprehensive lists of resources that no vegan should live without, this book is key to helping you thrive as a happy, healthy, and sane vegan in a decidedly non-vegan world. Witty, opinionated, and eminently useful. "

I really like the style in which the book is written.
I can't say I learnt a lot as I'm already almost 100% vegan and have a good knowledge on the subject since I've been interested in it for a few years already.
But it is interesting to learn some facts and see the recommandations on how to react in front of non-vegan people.

In a week filled with chaos, I'm just now having an opportunity to make a Journal Entry after this book arrived safely this past Tuesday. THANK YOU for your kindness, Harobed82!!! ; ) Rather amusing that I arrived home to find this in my mailbox the very same day it became necessary for me to "debate" with a Pharmacist, the fact that other than sun exposure, Vitamin D3 is animal based, while Vitamin D2 is plant based. Having just been given a prescription for Vitamin D, I asked what my Insurance was going to allow it to be filled with, D2 or D3. He said they are both the same, and disagreed that D2 was plant based, further stating that one was active, and one was inactive, although he didn't know which was which, nor which, in his opinion, he thought would be better absorbed by the body. I told him that they are not both the same, however the body converts them both to the same thing, if there are other required minerals present to allow it to do so. He said no, I don't think so. Of course I again disagreed and we were deadlocked. Frustrated that my vegan brain might be a bit rusty and that I was incorrect...low and behold, substantial proof to the contrary presented itself in the text of this NONFICTION book, written by those who know. Validation is a beautiful thing. ; ) People have also been telling me for years that I should drink milk, when I have repeatedly told them that I, and humans in general, am not a baby cow, and therefore do not absorb the calcium in dairy milk. Almond "milk"...now that's a different story, and it's higher in calcium!!! ; D Don't get me started on Vitamin B12. I'm certainly not looking forward to the inevitable debate that will ensue when the Calcium prescription is filled (there are two types), but I AM looking forward to exploring the information in this book. LOVE that the title is presented as a name tag one might wear at convention. ; )

In this informative and practical guide, two seasoned vegans offer tips and advice for thriving without animal by-products. Sometimes funny and irreverent yet always aware of its serious message, this resource for being vegan in a world that doesn’t always understand or have sympathy for the lifestyle illustrates how to go vegan in three weeks or less by employing a “cold tofu method;” convince family, friends, and others that there is no such thing as a vegan cult; and survive restaurants, grocery stores, and meals with omnivores. Also offering answers to questions such as “Do you, like, live on apples and twigs?” this reference dispels myths and explains the arguments for ethical, abolitionist veganism, encouraging everyone to embrace their inner vegan.
