Review Thomas Meagher had an interesting life. Born to wealth and privilege in Ireland, he took up the cause of Irish independence and was transported to Tasmania as a prisoner for his part in an attempted uprising. He eventually escaped to the US and fought for the Union as the leader of the Irish Brigade. Then he became the Acting Governor of Montana.
Egan’s writing is as fluid as ever but somehow this book does not have the impact on me as his previous books.
