Read this book many years ago and really liked it but for some reason it's been sitting on my shelves since. Time to find some new readers, which will be well-deserved. The writes is incidentally the chap who played Dougal in Father Ted. So he clearly is very creative - and he has a darker side too!

Patrick Scully was a bright young man and had wanted to follow his father into the guards, but school is over, and his father is dead. Patrick is now stuck in a dead end job in Dublin whilst all his friends are at University and having a great time. I got a bit frustrated with Patrick, he was wallowing in self pity and could not seem to drag himself out of it. I expected this book to be a bit funnier than it was, so was a bit disappointed as it was quite depressing at times.
