Nora receives an invitation to Clare's hen. At first she's compelled to just bin the invitation and ignore it, as her and Clare have not had contact for many years. She is pestered by Clare's self declared 'best friend' Flo, and reluctantly decides to go accompanied by another friend from the past that she does still have contact with. Oh how she must of wished she followed her gut instincts and stayed far, far away. Clare has always been a master manipulator and her skills have only been honed in the past few years, assisted by her lunatic friend Flo, who is more of a toady than an actual friend.
The setting of the glass and timber modern house in the middle of the woods is as much of a character as any of the people in the book.
Just a note, if this book is made into a movie, I would hope it keeps it's British setting, as there are certain things that would not translate well in a U.S.A. setting.
