I got this paperback (an older edition with a different cover) from a friend who's decluttering. I read it ages ago and enjoyed the title story's humorous take on futuristic time-travel-based attempts to retrieve long-lost species - with wildly amusing missteps along the way! The other tales are also fun, most of them featuring Hanville Svetz, the hapless horse-seeker of the title story.

I plan to leave this book, bagged against the elements, on a bench somewhere on the Groton Place trail system on this lovely day; hope someone enjoys it!

Update: left on the dog-statue near the memorial to a previous owner - and to his beloved horse; seemed a fitting spot!
