Vet in a Spin, by James Herriot is a quick reading book about his life as a vet, which makes the story very amusing at times, even when he is called out in the middle of the night to deliver a calf or attend another sick animal.
Yorkshire weather can be very harsh in the winter and very hard for the farmers to care for their animals as well as themselves.
Well written and lots of amusing stories.

An enjoyable read about the vet, James Herriot, and his interaction with the local characters in his rural practice.
It's a shame this book is falling apart.
