Book burble: Waiting tables, sweeping floors, reading minds and solving mysteries for the undead. It’s all in a days work for Sookie.

Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse is on a streak of real bad luck. First, her co-worker gets murdered and no one seems to care. Then Sookie is attacked – and poisoned – late one night by some weird and apparently mythical beast. She only survives because the local vampires roll up and graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn’t enjoy it). But in return the blood-suckers need a favour.

Which is why Sookie ends up in Dallas, using her telepathic skills to search for a missing vampire, on the condition that her undead friends don’t do anything, well, vampiric while she’s there. Easier said than done. All it takes is one delicious blonde and one small mistake for thing to turn deadly…

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Round two with Sookie and the supernaturals sees Sookie’s further attempts to steer well clear of vampire politics foundering right from the start. Sookie’s is mugged supernatural style, once by a mythical creature and again on discovering Eric has hired out her skills! Honour bound Sookie had (see book 1. Dead After Dark) offered her help to Eric but in responding to Eric’s reminder that she had promised to use her mental ability in his favour, Sookie is unhappy to hear she has no choice but to travel to Dallas, Texas.

More adventures, amorous and otherwise, unfold for Sookie and Bill and Eric pops into the picture as well, driving a red corvette indeed. How stylish! The moral dilemmas Harris rockets into Sookie’s life are stimulating and the moments of flirtatious humour are just exquisite. So deliciously amusing. [My reading notes from Tue Sept 13 2011]
---------------------

Totally loved the Sookie Stackhouse book series and never watched the TV development, more an issue of I don’t have a telly than anything else though to be honest I would have found the TV series a bit of a problem as I understood it that seemed to veer away the books in a great many instances. Probably the TV series stood alone well in enough in its own universe but as a reading fan I have to say Charlaine Harris did a spectacular job with this series. Major de-cluttering & house clearing means this must continue travelling… yes offering up the entire series as a whole would have been a grand gesture but the fact I cannot lay hand of the entirety of the book series points to the need for de-cluttering!

OK loath to pass this on so the next in line better get their act together and make some BookCrossing notes to let me know releasing this into their hands was worth it!
