The Feast of Fields was a wonderful, annual outdoor picnic - and you guessed it - it took place in a field. Held on the first Sunday after Labour Day, it was put on the Organic Advocates, a non-profit organization of organic producers, environmentally concerned chefs and other food professionals. In addition to "Feast", the OA raised funds for organic initiatives, and set up farmer/chef internships. If $100 a ticket sounds steep, this really wasn't the case, as the variety, quality and quantity of what you could consume was so high. All edibles, wine and beer were organic. Chefs like Jamie Kennedy, Michael Stadtlander and Michael Smith would participate, adding some "celeb" excitement (as well as fabulous fare) and there was always live music to help you wend your way around 100+ booths. Harrowsmith Magazine was involved with the F of F for over 10 years as a media sponsor. We really enjoyed having a booth (contra agreement for media coverage), meeting the public, selling subscriptions and Harrowsmith's Almanac and when we got a break, enjoying the yummy offerings. "Feast" ran for 25 years and alas, is no more, but what a great event for a quarter of a century. It was the thing I looked most forward to every September.

Dear finder of this book: you have found a free, travelling book registered on Bookcrossing.com, which is basically geo-caching for books. Please go the Bookcrossing website (label inside the book) and make a short journal entry, so we know it's been found. Bookcrossing is free and anonymous and aims to "make the whole world a library". Pass the book on, or hang onto it - but we'd really appreciate if you'd make that Journal Entry so we know it's in good hands. Thanks!
