I found this hefty hardcover in this Little Free Library in Nashua NH, while dropping off some books of my own. [It inspired a 2018 mini-series.] It's set in 1951 and 1952 in post-partition India, and follows several families as they attempt to cope with the social and political fallout of the partition and upcoming election while keeping up with familial concerns. The central storyline has to do with a young woman whose family wants her to marry - and who winds up feeling torn between several suitors, not all of whom are remotely acceptable to her family...

I left this book in the Little Free Library; hope someone enjoys it!
