Audrey Hepburn: An Intimate Portrait

A well written, detailed account of Audrey Hepburn's life, by journalist Diana Maychick (at one time, entertainment columnist for The New York Post). Hepburn was one of a kind - an actress who excelled at comedy and drama - and a style icon. Some of her best-known roles are "My Fair Lady", "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "Charade", "How to Steal a Million" and "Wait Until Dark". On the outside, she appeared "to have it all", but she went through many struggles in her life. In her later years, she became an ambassador for UNICEF, which she felt was her most important role (after being a mother).
'Loaned to a Dutch-Canadian friend, this book has just been returned. Like me, she was intrigued at the depth of Audrey's involvement in WW2 underground activity. Overall, she really enjoyed this biography, and I hope someone else will too.
