"Mykonos in the mid-fifties…
On the cosmopolitan Aegean island, destination of the international jet-set, secrets and lies that date back to World War II cast their shadows over the classic holiday scenario. The rich shipowner Taxiarchis, his trusted friend Charalambus, Lilian, Taxiarchis’ young and spoiled niece, the restless Daninos who searches for the truth about his father, the shy but resolute Eleni, the provocative Magda Antonescu and the shadowy Italian Marquis, Montebello Calvini give life to a fascinating plot that will keep the reader in suspense from the first page. "

This book shows its age… The prose can be a bit dry sometimes, while the characters are a bit cliché and the plot quite predictable. Still, it’s a very decent crime novel, ideal when someone needs an easy, relaxing book. While the author remains to the point and doesn’t stray into long descriptions or contemplations, I enjoyed the ambiance and the setting of the story, both in terms of area and era.
All that said, translation and editing could be better, as there are some grammar and syntax errors here and there too…
6 ½/10
A nice "retro" mystery to pass some time...
