I got this handsome hardcover at a local Salvation Army thrift shop. It's an epistolary tale of two kids whose pen-pal relationship overrides their differences: she's from a refugee Indian family, living in New York, and he's from a Kentucky coal-mining community. And they each find themselves involved in larger issues, supporting each other long-distance.

I left this book in the Little Free Library on this snowy day; hope someone enjoys it!
