TIGERLILY'S ORCHIDS tells the story of the sad and self-absorbed lives of the flat-dwellers of Lichfield House.

Vain Stuart Font preens himself in the lobby mirror and has an affair with a solicitor's wife, the equally vain and shallow Claudia. Unused to bothering himself with others feelings, he doesn't see how Molly, a student in the building has become obsessed with him, even when she starts cleaning his apartment and running his errands for free.

Stuart is equally obsessed with enigmatic and languid "TigerLily" who is ostensibly working for her father's orchid growing business across the way. Soon everything comes apart -- Stuart is found dead in a park, the miserable Olwen drinks herself to death, and little Molly finds a terrible surprise in her doltish boyfriends hovel.

Picked up at the last New Westminster Bookcrossing meeting.

Favourite writer! A tight set of characters, almost all interconnected in some way, mostly by the one apartment building or the area around it.

And yes, most of the characters lead very, very sad lives. And we know from the start, little will turn out well.
