In recent years, the career of Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks has been stalled-and, in fact, very nearly destroyed-by the petty animosities of his politically ambitious senior officer Chief Constable Riddle. But when nude pictures of Riddle’s runaway teenage daughter show up on a pornographic Web site, he turns to Banks for help.
The trail leads Banks first to London’s Soho, an area of strip clubs and sex shops, then to the upmarket Little Venice, where Emily Riddle is living with a dangerous gangster with ties to world of rock music. At first she refuses to come home, but later Emily turns up at Banks’s hotel, bruised and frightened and asking for his help. Soon she is back with her family in Yorkshire, and Banks’s work appears to be done.

Just OK and too many references to musics for me.

Thank you! I LOVE Bookcrossing! I got a DCI Banks book from my secret Santa, swapped it with Chania from Finland for other DCI books, and one was previously read by Icila, so she saw in the journal entry that I was looking for DCI banks and ta-ta-ta-taaa: today I got 7 more DCI banks books! WOW!!!

Although we are not exactly locked in because of Covid (which my computer wants to change to Ovid), we are at home A LOT more than usually. Actually I did not know we used to be out so much. As I have no patience for TV (not the regular, but not even Netflix or something with more choice), I do read quite a bit, and a lot of Alan Banks it is these days, once you get started, and it´s a pile anyway...
I never liked Sandra, and I've liked Annie from the start, so this suited me well. As Icila has mentioned, it is quite a lot of music in this one, even more so than the usual, and not only classical and jazz, but punk and the like (which is probably insulting to be "like" punk). I don't know much about music, so these parts were lost on me, but I liked the rest - especially the scene where Rosalind insults Banks while asking his help when they first meet. Breathtaking snobbism like this is always a joy to witness and it was described so nicely.
