"Lydia is dead. But they don't know this yet." So begins this exquisite novel about a Chinese American family living in 1970s small-town Ohio. Lydia is the favorite child of Marilyn and James Lee, and her parents are determined that she will fulfill the dreams they were unable to pursue. WILD RELEASE NOTES:
on someone's wishlist
Thank you so much for the unexpected kindness :)
Probably the best book I've read in quite a while. The obsessive attention to detail, the character growth and rhythm of the reveals are what I enjoyed the most. Everything I never told you gradually turns into everything I will never be able to tell you once I realize who I am and grow into someone new. There's shock and grief and betrayal, there's unrequited love and spite and envy. There's being human and afraid of being human. I can see why a book like this can take six years.

Happy reading :)
This arrived today, thank you!
I am moving most of the books from my TBR to the my available shelf because I am in the process of moving and trying to avoid moving books! If I have time, I still plan to read these, but I'm getting them ready to travel if that happens first.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I plan to drop this book off in the LFL this afternoon
Loved this book. A haunting look at the everyday destruction that a family can inflict on each other. Whether through things left unsaid, or the crushing weight of accumulated expectations.
