Leonardo Da Vinci
3 journalers for this copy...
Be prepared to take in copious information about this extraordinary man. The research required to write such a fascinating biography of a single human being is mind boggling. The illustrations that accompany the narrative help to further understanding of this brilliant man's mind and brilliant he was. Yes, it takes time to read this history of Da Vinci but it is time well spent.
Hello Bucklesbook. This book looks daunting, but Da Vinci was just a genius.....I hope I can get through it. I bet I will, since we often enjoy the same books. BTW...here's another one that didn't pick up a cover image. I don't know why that happened, but I can fix it for you, so the cover shows. up. And wow....what kind of paper stock did they use? It's the weight of cinderblock!
If at first this book looks like it might be very academic and too detailed, keep on reading. It's an engaging book - a page turner. After you finish the this bio, you feel almost as if you know Leonardo, and how thrilling it would be if you could travel back in time and talk to him. As mentioned earlier, the only complaint I have about this book is its HEFT. At just over 595 pages (the man was so multi-talented, it takes a lot to tell his story), on heavy paper stock, with lots of colour plates, it can hurt your wrists, as you try to read it in bed! 'Passing this over to Donfiction - he's a bio guy, and enjoyed Isaacson's Steve Jobs bio.
'Taking to our meetup at Harbord House Pub this Saturday. If no takers, I will bring it home and add it to our Little Free Library.
I truly want to read this book but it is such a doorstopper that I am afraid I will injure myself! I find it difficult to hold such heavy tomes while reading in bed at night. I will keep my eyes open for a paperback copy of it.
Bringing it back to our next meetup, next weekend.
