"In New York City, since 1985, nearly 9,000 murders remain unsolved...
These cases are never closed but they can [...] go 'cold'. And when this happens and the world seems to have moved on, it falls to one small, elite NYPD unit to offer hope of resolution. Its purpose is to rescue these near-forgotten victims from oblivion [...] and in finding justice, lay their troubled ghosts to rest. It is The Cold Case and Apprehension Squad.
The Restless Sleep [is a] riveting, at times harrowing, account of [...] New York City's Cold Case Squad."
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it for any true crime fan.

Posted as part of the 2nd true crime sweeps.
And another book! Thank you!
You'd think a cold case squad is a hectic place but this book had only slow stories. Cold cases are solved slowly, if at all.
I liked how the book gave inside to how the NYPD works as a department and how much the politics influence the personel choices. Bosses come and go as the higher bosses choose. I work at a police department myself and luckily things are more stable here.
