I found this hardcover in this Little Free Library in Hancock, NH while dropping off some books of my own. It's set in a small town in the Appalachians, where a family has lived for generations - but now, family patriarch Tom is dying, and his son Raphael returns from San Francisco to try for a reconciliation. Tom never accepted that his son was gay, and would keep his distance from any lovers that accompanied Raphael home on visits - but now Raphael returns alone, and with a grim secret of his own. The book's constructed of loosely-linked stories that reveal more about the pasts of Tom and his wife, the family they raised, Raphael's tribulations, and the attempts of father and son to bridge their differences...

I left this book, bagged against the elements, on the signboard at the Lovewell Pond trail head, after taking some time to admire the sculptures along the nearby trail. Hope the finder enjoys the book!
