I bought this book at a charity shop in my neighbouring city of Kitchener, ON. Its purchase benefitted the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

I first read this book as a small child, right around the time I turned 7. It was chosen for me by a teacher because I really hated Roald Dahl's "The Twits" and I didn't want to finish reading it, lol. This book was a better fit.

I really liked the Little House series as a kid, and this was the book that got me into it-- the first Laura Ingalls Wilder book I ever read. For some reason, this book randomly popped into my mind recently, and since I am currently in the fourth year of my own marriage I thought it would be fun to re-read this book now and see what it's like from the perspective I have now. See what is the same and what's different about the first four years of marriage now vs in the late 1800s. My guess is that there will be a lot of differences, with a lot of similarities underneath. Anyway, should be fun!

I finished re-reading this book today, on the 7th anniversary of my romantic partnership with the man who is now my husband, and exactly two weeks before our 4th wedding anniversary.

Having read this book in the fourth year of my marriage, I think that my initial hunch about what is the same vs what is different today was correct. The details are a lot different, but the fundamental experiences-- things like establishing a home together, figuring out finances, experiencing serious health concerns together for the first time, etc-- remain the same. Or at least, that's how it's been in my experience.

I don't know where we will be on July 7 (our four-year wedding anniversary), but my plan is to release the book wherever we are that day. If we're just in our hometown I will try to find a meaningful place for it, otherwise I will just leave it wherever we are!

Released 5 yrs ago (7/7/2018 UTC) at St. Andrew's Hespeler Presbyterian Church in Cambridge, Ontario Canada

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I released this book in the little library outside of the church where I was married exactly 4 years ago. It's hard to see in the release photo, but it's the green book next to the orange one on the right side of the bottom shelf.
