I got this softcover at Barnes and Noble today. It's the first in a manga adaptation of the charming Baccano series of light novels.

I adored the anime series based on these light novels, and was delighted when the novels started to appear in English translation. I picked up The Rolling Bootlegs and a couple of other volumes. But I'm pleased to see a manga version, and hope it'll be as entertaining.

Later: This volume might be a little bit challenging to someone who's not familiar with the story-arc; it introduces a bunch of characters in two different crime families, some of whom apparently have instant-healing capabilities - and the origins of that are only touched on in a flashback near the end of the volume. Introducing so many characters also makes it challenging to figure out where the focus is, though in this volume young Firo is pretty much the main character. His friend and mentor Maiza, the bookkeeper of his mob, is also a singularly badass fighter, despite his apparently bookish and cheerful demeanor. (He's also my favorite character in the story!)
