Neil Adam Armon speaks to Naomi Alderman: he is having problems to publish his novel, as nobody seems to take him too seriously.

Then we have the novel The Power, with the subtitle A Historical Novel, written by Neil Adam Armon.

This is the frame - at the end of the novel The Power we will get some letters between these two characters, Neil and Naomi. This frame takes a few pages, but more than 300 hundred pages is the historical novel The Power.

It begins "10 years before", so you will wonder, "Before what?". That will become apparent little by little from half of the novel onwards. It is important when you realise that.

We meet four main characters: Tunde, an uncompromising journalist with talent and courage to last 10 lifetimes; Allie, an orphan who is constantly raped by his adoptive father with the knowledge of her surrogate mother; Joss, the daughter of a politician who doesn't exactly fit the role that her mother Margot has devised for her, and Roxy, daughter of a drug lord in the Balkans who sees the murder of her own mother.

All these people will have roles to play when teenagers start getting the Power, the power to create electricity with their own bodies with a new organ called skein, which apparently has remained latent, dormant, until now, and now it's everywhere, in every teenager. Not only that, these teenagers can pass it on to mature women. Soon enough, it is a revolution everywhere.
