Bought at the League of Women Voters used book sale in Livonia. This is actually a "Southern vampire novel... " A little worse for the wear. Looks like it got left out in the rain.

Sookie Stackhouse has a disability, one that has left her undated and unbefriended in her tiny Louisiana hometown... she's telepathic. Bill Compton is old-fashioned. Very old-fashioned. One hundred years old and afflicted with a virus that has rendered him a vampire. Now he wants to mainstream into human society and she wants to get to know him a lot better. Take a look at this odd couple and watch from the sidelines as waitresses with a taste for vampires end up dead all around them. Quite a mystery.

This was a good borderline 8/9 for me! While it was no great literature, the voice of Sookie was so believable and the storyline never wore thin. I am almost hoping for a sequel! Wait until you see who shows up undead towards the end of this one! You'll be amazed and get quite a laugh out of it!

I'm going to give dibs on this one to the Poppy Z. Brite fans on the Perpetually Bizarre Book Ray. Happy reading!

The trilogy (everything in print so far in this series) will be traveling together. No fears... They are very quick reads and no one is stressing on time limits. Keep them as long as you need to finish! This is a ray and can be passed along to a new reader at the end of the list. Enjoy!!

Here is a bookray list for it:

Mom-of-one
DrBrown
sweetsangria

Well for gosh sakes - how could I forget that this travelling trilogy originated with lightwavz?? (Waves at lightwavz.) :-)

I found this book a delightful romp, and nearly finished it in one sitting. Sookie is an engaging narrator: I can't wait to see where her adventures take her next. I'm a big fan of anything supernatural, and the matter-of-fact way that vampires, shapeshifters, and telepathics are addressed here is refreshing and fun. It's almost a jolt when nasty or erotic things happen (and a few do, but it's all relatively tame). Thanks for sharing! On to Book Two....

I thought this was a pretty good book, and I really liked Sookie and Bill. My only complaint was that I knew who the "killer" was early in the book. I wish I could have Sookie's "disability" for 1 day. That could be fun..........I'll move on to the 2nd book next.
