I found this somewhat-battered softcover in this Little Free Library, and nabbed it for another release copy.
(It was also released as The Vegetable Alphabet Book. While this edition's title does include "victory garden", the book's a more general gardening-themed one, but it is co-authored by Bob Thomson, long-time host of the "Victory Garden" TV series - and the letter "V" includes a description of actual Victory Gardens.)
The illustrations include a variety of gardening advice, from preparing the soil to knowing when to harvest - and each letter is represented by different types of produce, from asparagus to zucchetta. There are little quips here and there as well, such as the author's complaint about the difficulty of finding veggies beginning with "D" ("daikon" eventually won), or the running jokes about critters who've appeared on the wrong page for their own initial letter.
