A beautifully illustrated book, perhaps with children as its target audience, but informative for adults, as well. The author does a good job of blending Mayan supernatural beliefs about the "feathered serpent" with modern ornithology.
I found the whole section on breeding and nesting a little confusing. I re-read it several times, and had trouble understanding what the author was trying to say about seasons. I wish she had identified actual months of the year.
This little book makes me want to do more research on this rare and endangered bird.
I plan to release the book somewhere in the home territory of the quetzal.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Truth be told, this wasn't a true wild release. I handed the book directly to the library director. I briefly explained the concept of BookCrossing to her. I asked, if possible, that she make a journal entry for the book. It sounded like she might do that.
The book had a yellow sticky note on its front cover, letting anyone who handles the book know that it's a FREE book, traveling the world.
