I doubt that there is anything here that a serious Star Trek fan would not have read in many other books. But for a casual fan like myself, it was an enjoyable canter through the original series, the films and the Next Generation (with briefer summaries of the other series and the new rebooted films) - with summaries, critical reaction , gossip - a very pleasant companion to any re-watching of Star Trek.

I really enjoyed this! I got into Star Trek in the '90s with Next Generation, but never watched any of the other series. So I reckon I'm the perfect sort of audience for this book, interested, but not so enthusiastic a fan that I knew all the stories already.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I really enjoyed this. Most of it I knew already but there were a few gems of trivia about screenwriters. Told with great affection and humour. The story of how Star Trek first got started, then became a phenomenon to the recent revival.
I enjoy Star Trek but this was a little too blow by blow for me!

Interesting and pretty insightful account of (mostly) the original series, Next Generation and the first 7 movies. Plenty of good stuff on the studio politics behind the series, and how that fed into what we saw on screen. It does contain too many episode summaries, though- could have done with some editing to make the same points more economically. Later chapters are better.

One for the more casual of Star Trek fans, especially those more interested in the earlier series - not enough DS9 for my taste! But still an interesting tale of the wrangles and personality clashes involved in the production of the first series, and how one of the most significant pop culture events nearly didnt happen.
