I brought this home from the Roecliffe red telephone box book exchange/community library this afternoon when releasing a couple of books there. I'm not sure why I was drawn to it. I've enjoyed several novels by Bernard Cornwell in the past but not all the ones I've read! I'm prepared to give this one a try!

From the Amazon Editorial Review: " . . . Scoundrel, a contemporary tale of excitement and danger on high and treacherous seas. A gripping tale of an outlaw yacht captain who decides to cross the Irish Republican Army for a $5 million payday only to find himself pursued by intelligence agents, terrorists, and killers across perilous open waters, Scoundrel is a masterful thriller in the Tom Clancy vein—a masterwork of suspense from one of today’s most versatile and accomplished popular novelists."

A mistake that I abandoned within the 50 page ruling! I just couldn't get interested in a book about terrorists and terrorism that was first published in 1992, not even for its historical reminders. The world, including the world of terrorism, has changed too much since then!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This is one of three books I left with a very helpful gentleman at the Carr Gate garden centre where we stopped for lunch on our drive south. I took the books to leave on the bookshelf offering used books in aid of the Marie Curie Cancer charity which I remembered as being behind the tills, just as in many other Wyevale garden centres around the country. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. There was no sign of it! But the aforementioned helpful employee said that he’d query the omission and see about getting one set up . . . . so I gave him the books anyway, as a sort of advance deposit . . . .

Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 over twelve million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
