Taproot: A Story About a Gardener and a Ghost

I got this softcover at Barnes and Noble after reading this Book Threat review. It's a thoroughly charming graphic novel about husky gardener Hamal, a gentle soul who has the ability to see ghosts - including that of Blue, his best friend. Blue's in love with Hamal, but what with the being-a-ghost thing, he doesn't think he needs to mention it to Hamal just yet.
And then strange things start happening. Blue blinks in and out, finding himself in a dark, eerie wood; the flowers seem to be dying; a terrified little girl ghost rushes up to Blue and Hamal in the garden shop, asking them to make the "scary place" go away; and Hamal himself is edgy, knowing that the ghosts sometimes move on to a place he can't see, and where he suspects they're all supposed to go - including Blue.
When Blue goes deeper into the scary place (the art-style changes dramatically here, with some delightfully creepy touches), he meets a Reaper who asks for his help; seems the cause of the weird goings-on can only be stopped by finding the necromancer who's interfering with the balance of life and death.
Guess who that turns out to be? Yep! Things get tense here - with hints of humor; the discussion about necromancers and zombies was hilarious. I don't want to spoil how things work out, but it's very touching...
There's a fun bonus story, too, featuring "zom-bees". Hee!

I'm adding this to the LGBTQ+ Mini-Bookbox, which will be on its way to its next stop soon. Hope someone enjoys it!
This one came home in the LGBTQ+ Mini-Bookbox. Thank you, GoryDetails! I plan to read before releasing.
Aww... who knew that a gay paranormal romance graphic novel was exactly what I needed in my life right now? Turns out it totally was! I enjoyed this sweet story that had humor and lots of heart. I am not usually a fan of supernatural elements in the stories that I read, but this one completely worked for me.
I love the way BookCrossing leads me to books that I never would have found on my own. Had this one not come back to me in a bookbox, I doubt I would have ever learned about it. Thanks again, GoryDetails! Nice read... recommended!
