Starr Williamson is a black-American teenager who lives in the Gardens, a notoriouos neighbourhood because of drug-trafficking, the Kings criminal bands and... Well, not, that's it. There is not "and".

She is studying at a high school outside the ghetto, though. Her mother, a nurse, and her father, a shop owner, want something better for her life, although it's because of her father (an old gangmember who has done time on behalf of the King leader) who prevents all the family to move to a better place.
