Wow... I didn't realize that I had this book on my TBR pile for so long! Indeed, after I started grad school in the Fall 2004, my "fun reading" time was cut down severely, and I am making slow progress with my TBR pile. I chose this book as my C letter for the A-Z Alphabet Challenge, to give me some motivation.

I can say that this was a wonderful discovery and I was not disappointed. This is the first book I read by this author, and I am looking forward to reading the rest of his work. This thriller is really enthralling, and although it is cliché, I have to say you keep guessing until the end. The author also does a great job of developing his characters while still maintaining the plot interesting.

Dr. David Beck is a pediatrician who chose to work at a free clinic that serves low-income families. He is great at his job, has a close relationship with his sister, and takes care of his grandfather who suffers from Alzheimer's. However, he carries with him the burden of his wife's murder and the guilt that he could have done more to save her. Although 8 years have passed since her death, Dr. Beck is still a solitary soul who plunges into work to keep pain at bay. The case was closed when it was determined that Elizabeth, Dr. Beck's wife, was another victim of KillRoy, a serial killer. However, Beck's old wounds are reopened when two corpses are found at the site where his beloved Elizabeth was abducted. Now, the FBI wants to reopen the case because they have a new suspect: Dr Beck himself!

Found this one in my mailbox last weekend. It shouldn't take too long as it is first up to be read. You can keep track of its progress via my bookshelf.

Crap! Another author to read everything he has ever written.

Needless to say, I enjoyed this one very much. The plot kept me rivetted, and the book was almost impossible to put down. I would love to wax poetic about the joys of reading this book and how well written it is, but my sink is full of dishes and I have four loads of laundry to fold and put away. Hint: If you intend to accomplish anything, do it before reading the first page of this book. :)

Thanks for sharing. It should go on to the next reader shortly.

Wow! As arugh48187 says, another author to read everything he's ever written. This book was so full of twists and turns, right up to the end, it was a wonder my fevered, flu-ridden brain could wrap itself around them. I sound like a jacket blurb writer, but reading this book was like being on a roller coaster--it took off and you just had to hold on. Completely gripping and "unputdownable."

Sent to the next person in the bookring today.

Just arrived today, thanks collectorkerri! I'll try to get it read quickly so that it can continue its journey through the ring.

A cousin of mine had suggested to me about a year ago that I read this book. With such high recommendations I had to give it a try. This is the second book of Coben’s that I’ve read, the first being Darkest Fear. I actually managed to get through this book in a weekend (sorry for the delay in the journal entry) – Coben is very good at grabbing one’s attention and not letting go. A friend of mine started reading the book in the few moments during which I put it down and insisted I let her finish before mailing off the book, so we actually have another honourary member of the book ring.

Coben’s style with short chapters ending in cliffhangers and heavy foreshadowing reminded me of Dan Brown, but with a much darker style. This book didn’t offer as many twists as Darkest Fear but still managed to surprise me a bit at the end. Not my all time favourite book, but definitely worth the read.

Jaycee1972 the book is on its way to you. I mailed it off last Thursday, 6 April, via surface mail. Expect it in “4-6 weeks”.

Received today in the post literally minutes after I finished the last book ring in my posession! I have read a couple of this authors books before and was very pleased to receive this. I have already started reading and it looks like it will be good. In fact, I am not hanging about here, I am off to read some more now!

Another one of Coben's books that I couldn't put down! Thanks Ilios for sharing.

Edit: I will be popping this in the post back to Ilios before the week is out. I will send suface so it may take a while.

Edit again: Posting tomorrow(15/05/06), sorry for delay.
