I got this good-condition hardcover at a local Savers thrift shop. Seems like a great BookCrossing book - and this was only the second copy registered on the site! It's the amazing - and often heart-wrenching - account of Abdel Kader Haidara, a young archivist and historian from Timbuktu, worked to rescue thousands upon thousands of ancient manuscripts. He and the many who helped him faced terrible dangers, and the whole story is very impressive. [The endpapers on this hardcover edition include a map showing his journey and, in the back, a beautiful color image of an illuminated page from one of the many rescued manuscripts.]
