Synopsis:
Maia D'Apliese and her five sisters gather together at their childhood home of Atlantis - a fabulous, secluded castle situated on the shores of Lake Geneva - having been told that their beloved father, the elusive billionaire they call Pa Salt, has died.
Maia and her sisters were all adopted by him as babies and, discovering he has already been buried at sea, each of them is handed a tantalising clue to their true heritage - a clue which takes Maia across the world to a crumblling mansion in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Once there, she begins to put together the pieces of where her story began...
Eighty years earlier, in the Belle Epoque of Rio, 1927, Izabela Bonifacio's father has aspirations for his daughter to marry into aristocracy. Meanwhile, architect Heitor da Silva Costa is working on a statue, to be called Christ the Redeemer, and will soon travel to Paris to find the right sculptor to complete his vision.
Izabela - passionate and longing to see the world - convinces her father to allow her to accompany him and his family to Europe before she is married. There, at Paul Landowski's studio and in the heady, vibrant cafes of Montparnasse, she meets ambitious young sculptor Laurent Brouilly, and knows at once that her life will never be the same again.

Maia's story definitely has many twists and turns, mostly for the worse than the better but still found it a quick and easy read. As with another Lucinda Riley book The Midnight Rose she tends to focus more of the story on the past(Maia's ancestor) and less on Maia herself. Hoping for more info on the sisters themselves and not just on their ancestors' stories.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Off to see penelopewanders on holiday in France.
This awaited us when we arrived at the farmhouse we are renovating here in France. Thanks so much for sending - I'll try to get to it soon.
Another to and fro book, with someone in the present trying to sort out their past. I found it a bit confusing that we learn so little about the actual grandmother, focusing mainly on the great-grandmother, but enjoyed the read nonetheless.
This is here as a spiral and I look forward to the next in the series, and hopefully uncovering more about Pa Salt and the others.
I've written for the next address, hopefully I'll hear soon.

This first book in the spiral leaves central France for the UK. Enjoy! Thanks for making it available, I look forward to the next.
This book has arrived safely with me in London. Big thank you to everyone who helped get it to me. I will read it next and get it moving again as soon as I can.
The book started off as a rather magical mystery then almost abruptly became something else, which annoyed me so much I didn’t want to keep reading. But I persevered and am so glad I did because this book has many layers. Then everything suddenly clicked into place when Isabella met the homeless Orphan in Paris. By then I realised I was totally hooked. I got so caught up in the mystery, drama, romance, history and exotic locations. There were a few clues which weren’t addressed in this book, I hope that they are in the next one.
Thanks to everyone who helped get this book to me! I really looking forward to reading the next one in the series. I shall do my best to get this in the post on Monday.

This Book was with some boxes that Iwillreoice’s friend gave me after she began to clean out her belongings as Iwillrejoice is rejoicing in heaven. I will find a new home for it.
The first in the series. It dragged on. But I completed the book. It is really a book inside a story. I will try the next in the series.
Enjoy! Tag it forward for GoryDetails for Oh, The Places We Can Go release challenge 2024 - Sis, Iran
