I got this hardcover at a local Salvation Army thrift shop, and was intrigued by the title - and even more intrigued when I found that it's about humankind's private parts and the many, many different ways they've chosen to speak, write, or artistically represent them over history.
While there definitely are plenty of factoids here, with lots of amusing, surprising, and sometimes shocking tidbits, the whole thing's a bit choppier than I'd have liked - a collection of trivia rather than a connected history. It includes biology, terminology, rites and superstitions, and even fashion statements - some forms of genital piercing had to do with properly fastening the organ so as not to interrupt the severely tailored line of the trousers!

I'm taking this to this afternoon's BookCrossing meetup at Panera in Porter Square, Cambridge; hope someone enjoys it!

Flipped through it a bit. Fascinating materials and fascinating stories, though a bit discombobulated. Will release soon.
